Open Position: Microfabrication Engineer

We have an immediate opportunity for a research engineer to join the Auckland Microfab team on a fixed term, 12 month contract. This is a chance to be a part of an innovative research and development programme into the science, engineering and commercialisation of microfabricated technologies, including microfluidic systems.
The primary objective of this role is to develop microfabricated devices and associated control systems, especially for microfluidic and bioengineering applications. The work will involve:
Microfabrication (e.g. cleanrooms, photolithography, laser micromachining)
Assembly and testing of microfabricated systems
Data collection in support of publications/patents
Documentation and reports as required
Other responsibilities as required to meet project goals.
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or science and have workshop and laboratory experience. Experience with microfabrication, microfluidics, mechatronics, CAD, FE modeling and basic programming languages would give the candidate an edge. You must be technically competent, an independent worker with sound communication skills, and able to thrive within a dynamic, academic research environment.
