Coming Soon to Auckland: Laser Machining
Dr. Charles Rohde and I are in Manchester, NH for system acceptance and training on the customized JPSA IX-100 laser micromachining platform we have on order. After the first day using the sytem I can already see the numerous ways it will be changing the way we conduct our business in the Auckland Microfab, and that’s without yet integrating the ultrafast line. It’s an impressive machine and it was quite easy for our baseline specification of 5um features to be met using the excimer on thin film metals and polymers. I don’t have pictures as they confiscate your camera at the entrance due to work on “James Bond” devices (read: US government work) and reasonable prudence, but the image from their website will give an approximation:
